Class 118 DMU at Somerset Road

15th January 1991

Smoke and Ice. Laying a dense cloud of smoke in the freezing January air a 3 car 116 set with 51316 leading rattles towards Birmingham on 15/01/1991. The train was the 12.23 Redditch to Lichfield service, it has just passed the site of Somerset Road station between University and Five Ways. To the left the Worcester canal is frozen with thick ice and behind the train the University clock tower stands proud. Geoff Dowling.

Class 118 DMU at Birmingham New Street

26th July 1991

Class 118 DMS no. 51331 leading BRCW 3-car suburban set T318 correctly formed with class 118 vehicles 59483 & 51316. The photo was taken peering round an inconveniently placed train of Brute trolleys on the platform! They were often useful for sitting on though. The unit is seen ready to leave with a service for Great Malvern on 26/Jul/1991. Robert Chilton.
