M51865, a Class 115 DMBS from Tyseley Depot, is seen at Birmingham New Street station on Wednesday 6th April 1988 working a duty on the Cross-City-Line. The unit carries a couple of Tyseley's embellishments to its livery, the Warwickshire County Bear and Staff in the headcode Box and the West-Midlands PTE logo below the cab windows. AndrewHA.

Taken from the signal box this was the scene looking back towards the station at High Wycombe before rationalisation in the late 1980s, A scene which basically hadn't changed, apart from the modern buildings and the traction, for donkeys years. Not only is the area awash with semaphore signals, some, i believe, dating back to pre WWI but the station boasts virtually full length canopies, high walls built using engineering brick and up and down through roads. Here the 1207 Aylesbury - Marylebone, via Princes Risborough service, departs from the up platform road and crosses back to the up main as it passes 'Sword House' the "Wilkinson Sword" HQ on its way towards the capital on 23rd April 1987. Allocated to Marylebone depot this 4-Car Class 115 DMU set, formed of M51655 + M59668 + M59651 + M51865, has plied this route for virtually thirty years and is generally the only Class of DMU that ever has, making the Chiltern Lines a virtually self contained route. Nigel Mack.
