E56003 on the rear of two Derby Heavyweight sets at Retford in 1960. Recently repainted, it now appears to be in the darker 'Loco' green rather than the original 'DMU' green. Steve Davies Collection.
A Derby Heavyweight set at Sheffield circa 1971. It appears to be E56003 closest. John Law.
E56003 beside 55 009 at Doncaster, September 3, 1981. John Carter.
Two Class 114 DMU seen at Worksop, date unknown. DTCL E56003 is closest Paul Redmond.
The LCGB South Yorkshireman railtour during the photo stop at Wadsley Bridge on 26 May 1987. I gather it was supposed to be two 114s, but we got a 114 (54003 + 53012) and a 111 (78964 + 78714). I recall reading later that the 114 had been stored (u) at Lincoln before the tour, which the website pages confirm. The unit wasn't in the best of health as its engines cut out several times during the day, leaving the 111 to do all the work. Even so, even though we left Sheffield 26 minutes late, we got back just 1 minute late! I've never been sure if the 114 was taken out of store specially for the tour. Andrew Phillips.
A Derby Works image (negative 58/950) showing a Derby Heavyweight DMU formed of E50003 + E56003 in late 1958, possibly on the Wirksworth branch. The DMBS has Albion engines fitted, but not recently judging by the weathering. British Railways.
Class 114s 53012 + 54003 with the 10.20 Grimsby Town - Sheffield at Broughton Lane on 25 May 1987. Dave Warby Collection.
