DMU set 117 308 (51413 + 59509 + 51371) arriving at Boston with the 08.07 Nottingham to Skegness on 27 July 1991. BR's Regional Railways sector was used to receiving cast offs from elsewhere. With the arrival of Sprinters in the late 1980s on the WR, then Network Turbo sets in the London area from 1990, what had once been a class solely used on WR suburban services, the class 117 DMU sets suddenly started to get transferred to Tyseley Depot in Birmingham from 1987 in increasing numbers. This particular set wasn't a Network South-East cast off, and had previously been Provincial Sector stock allocated to Bristol Bath Road depot with the set number B433. It moved to TS on 10/01/88 as their set T308. As one of a small batch of 117s selected for extended life overhaul, it emerged from works in April 1991 in Regional Railways livery. To differentiate the overhauled sets from the un-refurbished ones, they were given full TOPS class numbers and this one became 117 308.
