Passing some fine GWR lower quadrant semaphores as it pulls away from Radyr on 10th March 1986 is Derby Class 116 3 car DMU set C304. Allocated to CF and wearing "Valley Lines" branding it is formed of W53088 + W59362 + W53130 and is working the 1213 Treherbert - Barry Island service. Delivered new to CF (86A) in September 1957 in its original formation of W50088 + W59038 + W50130 it was to remain working on the Western Region for just over 30 years with spells at CF, Cardiff Cathays and LA. It swapped its original trailer car for W59362 sometime around 1971 and became set C304 in 1974 after previously carrying set no's CDF 406, CTN 314, 314 and C314. The trailer vehicle 59362 was transferred away to TS on 19th April 1987 (where it lasted just under two weeks before being withdrawn) while both of the Driving vehicles were withdrawn from CF also on 19th April 1987 before being scrapped at Vic Berry's at Leicester.
