On 23rd August 1980 M50796 heads a 4-car formation from Southport to Manchester Victoria, arriving at Appley Bridge. The linoleum works in the background dated from 1898, but had ceased production and was demolished the following year. Records show that the works, and a corn mill previously occupying the site, were rail connected from 1883 until July 1967.
