8th July 1964 sees this 101 at Anstruther. Contrary to the destination blind, this is believed to be the 2:42 PM from Dundee Tay Bridge to Edinburgh Waverley - It is believed that the Anstruther destination was used to dissuade passengers going to Edinburgh from taking this slow service through the East Neuk. Anstruther was a passing loop, but apparently the points at the East end had been plain lined meaning that Westbound trains went through the station on the Eastbound line then reversed into the station so that an Eastbound train could pass. David Pearson.
The tail lamp gets changed for the return journey to Edinburgh Waverley in this view of Anstruther station on 4 September 1965. The station closed two days later, and the train is formed of Gloucester and Met-Camm DMUs. Stuart Mackay Collection.
