This is Claverdon station, between Stratford-upon-Avon and Leamington, on 6 May 1991. My photo was taken while I was waiting for 71000 "Duke of Gloucester" returning the "Royal Shakespeare Shuttle" to Paddington. The DMU approaching on a local service is a hybrid unit with Class 116 DMBS 53865 standing on for the regular DMS. The set number is T315 (Tyseley), and the other vehicles are presumably 59745 + 51352. Lewis Bevan.

In 1986 all but one train each way per day between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon ran along the North Warwickshire Line unlike in later years when an hourly service ran on the route via Hatton North curve and Solihull. On 16 May 1986 a class 116 (set TS620, presumably 53849 + 59606 + 53878) is seen on the single line near Claverdon with the 17.25 from Birmingham Moor Street to Stratford. The photograph was a bonus on the evening that steam locomotive 777 Sir Lamiel was operating a private charter to Stratford. Peter Tandy.

Two of Tyseleys collection of single car units, 55004 and 55009, are seeming to struggle away from Claverdon station, the train was the 12.25 Leamington to Stratford-upon-Avon service on 21/02/1987. Claverdon is a depressing sight, the roadside booking office is closed as is the waiting room on the one remaining platform. The whole station site is a mess of snow flattened grass. Geoff Dowling.

The morning mist never did clear on the 23rd October 1982 although the sun produced a brightness to the countryside. M55004 glides into the mist at Claverdon station with the 13.14 Leamington Spa to Stratford-upon-Avon train. The station is in a parlous state, the ballast bearing the sleeper imprints of the missing line, the vacant platform still having the gas lamp standards intact. The quaint platform building, built in the same style as the road level booking office, has been locked for years but the solid GWR wooden bench from within has been dragged outside. Today the station is still in use, the building has gone, replaced by a bus shelter, lighting has improved and an electronic display provides information on the sparse service. The station has no car parking and is situated in a affluent village therefore passenger numbers are low. Geoff Dowling.
