E50019 receives some attention from fitters at Birmingham New Street on September 15th, 1962. It is seen at around 3.50pm after arriving from the Leicester direction with E56019 and a three-car Cravens set. Michael Mensing.

E56019 and E50019 are seen in Birmingham New Street on September 15th, 1962, forming the 4.23pm service to Derby. The DTC has an unusual shape of whiskers, the DMBS has two exhaust pipes, not the joined box Derby vehicles normally had in this era. Both vehicles carry electrification flashes. Michael Mensing.

Despite the extent of the damage, no Class 114 DMBS would be withdrawn after this date until 1968. Was it repaired or did it languish unused somewhere for five years? The damage reached all the way back to the rear seats, the door on its side in the foreground is from the vestibule entrance to the front saloon.
