Class 121 single unit 55031 at Millbrook on 19 January 1994 working the 14.40 Bedford-Bletchley. 55031 had been new in December 1960 and was initially allocated to Reading (81D). It later saw service from Laira, Southall, Reading again and Old Oak Common before being re-allocated to Bletchley (BY) in December 1992 and transferred into departmental service as 977976. 977976 was used as part of the Severn Tunnel Emergency Train until its withdrawal in April 2008 and it moved into preservation. Until the mid-90s St Johns was the terminus of services from Bletchley. However sense prevailed and the service extended to Bedford Midland. The remains of St Johns were replaced by a halt seen here as a Bletchley bound train appeared in the form of class 121 single unit 55031 in NSE livery, May 1999. Stephen Burdett.
