DMU Operations: Scottish Region
Edinburgh - Stirling via Alloa
DMUs had been introduced to the services of this 39¾ mile journey by the summer 1960 timetable.
By the late 1960s this was a Stirling - Dunfermline Lower service, connecting at Dunfermline with services to Edinburgh.
Passenger services ended on the Stirling - Dunfermline section on 7 October 1968. The Edinburgh - Stirling journey could still be made by the route via Falkirk.

A Met-Camm / Gloucester twin DMU comprising SC56396 + SC51112 in Dunfermline Upper station on Saturday 5 October 1968. This was the last day of passenger services on the line to Stirling via Alloa, there was no Sunday service and closure was officially on the Monday. Stuart Mackay Collection.
