Liverpool Central - Gateacre

Liverpool - Gateacre route diagram

DMUs were introduced to the service on 6th January 1958, the same day as the Liverpool Central - Warrington Central service which shared the same timetable.

Gloucester twins (Class 100s) were initialy used, but Blue Square Derby Lightweights (Class 108s) soon took over and were the standard traction until closure.

In September 1966 all Liverpool Central services, except Gateacre, were transferred to Liverpool Lime Street, leaving it as the sole service using the terminus.

Passenger services ended in April 1972.
